Copperplate Variations
With Barbara Calzolari
Starting date : 6 September 2024
Fees : HK$ 1,000 or US$ 130
Workshop Description
For enthusiasts of pointed pen calligraphy, the nib stands as the quintessential tool. Personally favoring Hunt 101 and Hunt 22, Barbara discovered the value of achieving a seamlessly smooth style by transposing the same technique to the brush. Whether utilizing the compact Pentel Brush Sign or the larger Pentel Color Brush, the technique plays a pivotal role in each. The Pentel Brush Sign Pen, featuring a medium/fine point silicon brush, offers impressive versatility. Meanwhile, the Pentel Color Brush Pen, with its synthetic brush tip, emulates the characteristics of a round-tipped brush, while providing the practicality of a pen.

Appreciated for its flexibility and ease of use in comparison to traditional brushes, this tool allows for effortless variations in thickness. Whether mimicking a fine-point nib by holding it perpendicular to the paper or creating a blunt tip effect by placing the tip laterally, the Brush Pen offers a spectrum of possibilities.

This course is designed to immerse participants in Copperplate Variations calligraphy, utilizing the Nib, Brush Sign Pen, and Color Brush Pen, with a primary focus on upward Copperplate alphabets.
