Cherrell Avery is a London based professional lettering artist. With a traditional training in calligraphy, she is a Fellow of Society of Scribes & Illuminators, The Calligraphy & Lettering Arts Society and is a Full Member of Letter Exchange.

An experienced teacher, Cherrell tutors at advanced level for the SSI and has taught calligraphy at degree level. She has run workshops in UK, and Europe and facilitated calligraphy events in London museums such as British Library and Royal Academy. Cherrell was calligrapher in residence at V&A museum in 2012.

Her lettering art is regularly exhibited and she has pieces in private collections worldwide. Cherrell enjoys pushing the boundaries of letterforms and supporting materials, exploring etching, gold and paper structures in her work.
